Circle crochet V stitch - Punto Bajo Centrado circular

An stitch that looks its best on extra bulky yarn, like t-shirt ones. I learnt to make it in the round with increases and sideways which looks like a whirlwind. It creates an interesting texture. These are the latest ones I made.

Esta variacion del punto bajo gana mucho con trapillo y lanas/hilos gruesos. Aprendi a hacerlo en circulo  y una variacion  redondo ladeado que encontre aqui , que lo hace mas interesante, parece un remolino. Estas son las dos ultimas bases que he hecho.

Probando nuevos materiales y aprendiendo nuevos puntos y tecnicas. El punto bajo centrado (enlace a video) que he usado en estas cestas es muy versatil, facilita el diseno pudiendo usar graficos de punto de cruz con la tecnica del ganchillo tapiceria o jacquard.

Trying new materials, stitches and techniques. Enjoying how quick the work progresses with t-shirt yarn also known as spaghetty yarn. This one is from Tiger and is very reasonably priced with plenty of stores nearby, a drawback is color availability which can be quite unpredictable. I learnt  crochet knit stitch/waistcoat stitch which is very versatile, it adapts itself very easily to tapestry/jacquard crochet designs.

Ganchillo por Paris - Crochet in Paris

Por mucho que una viaje y vea cosas nuevas, la atencion termina centrandose en cosas por las que siento predileccion.  Disfrutando el Museo Picasso en Paris las semana pasada, despues de tres visitas frustradas . Y mira por donde me encuentro con esta chaqueta a ganchillo que me encandilo tanto como los lienzos.

 I cannot help it  even when traveling and seen new places, people and ways of doing things, my attention is drawn like a magnet to crafts. Like this crochet cardigan I came across while visiting the Picasso Museum in Paris last week.

El que ha creado la artista japonesa Toshiko Horiuchi en el Hakone Open Air Museum de Saporo en Japon.  Las reaciones de los chiquillos a ver sus esculturas fue la inspiracion para esta obra, que desborda color e imaginacion.

The last crochet tecnique I learned before my enforced break due to tendonitis. It is done in one go without breaking the yarn.

La ultima tecnica de ganchillo que aprendi antes de que mis tendones enfermaran. Tiene la ventaja de que se hace en una pieza sin romper el hilo.

Perfumes con gancho - Hooked perfum

Los que hizo Kate Talbot para este articulo en la revista Stylist. Lo unico que no me gusto fue que los describen como hechos a punto, algo que no se si es por desconocimiento o dejadez pero ocurre a menudo con piezas de ganchillo. A resaltar las ilustraciones textiles que hace la artista, versiones artesanas de obras de arte donde mezcla telas, pintura y ganchillo, creando unas piezas unicas, a la vista en su pagina web hungdrawnquoted y en la Maison Bisoux.

Pantalones cortos a ganchillo - Crochet Shorts

No se yo si me da la aficion al ganchillo para tanto. Y es que soy demasiado practica y la ropa de playa la prefiero sencilla, sin rebuscamientos y que no requiera cuidados especiales. Claro que alargandoles la pierna, tejiendolos en negro y forrandolos a contraste quedarian unos palazzo de noche originales. De todas formas si a alguien le gustan aqui los venden y en Outstanding Crochet  muestran el patron.

I like crochet, but my practical nature does insists on the easy to care nature of beach clothes. Personally I will do some alterations to them : lengthening the leg and adding contrasting lining will make some interesting evening palazzo troussers. I came accross them and their pattern on the Outstanding Crochet blog, less patient fans can buy them here.

Lana Ondas - Ruffle yarn

Hace unas semanas me agencie unos 50g de lana de cinta en tonos azules en una tienda de caridad. No tenia ni idea  que hacer con ella ni como, simplemente porque era preciosa. Y estos fines de semana griposos en casa me han dado la oportunidad de averiguar que lana era (Katia Ondas) y buscar  tecnicas para hacerme una bufanda . Encontre tres:  una a punto y dos a ganchillo : un video en portugues de Elaine Crochet y el mas facil el video de Mikey de  All Free Crochet.com). Desbarate un par de intentos pero consegui acabar la bufanda el sabado. Si sois impacientes (como yo) os recomiendo los patrones a ganchillo, podeis haceros hasta dos bufandas en un dia.

A few weeks ago I came across some ruffle yarn in variegated blue. I had never seen this tape yarn and had no idea how to work with it. The last few weekends were spent at home with flu and I went searching for tecniques to work with it. I tried three, the knitting one  took too much yarn and I didn't have enough for an scarf . Then I tried this video from Elaine Crochet with instructions in portuguese which was easy enough, but I must have mistaken something because the scarf resulted too short.  Tried this video from Mikey from All Free Crochet.com and bingo, I even had some yarn left over which I added to the scarf. Something else I noticed, the yarn is very resilient, I unravelled it twice and it didn't show at al. If you are impatient like me, go for the crochet tutorials, you can do two scarfs in a day.

Tragalanas - Wool Eater

Unos dias de gripe me tuvieron en cama, pero en cuanto pude aproveche para probar tecnicas nuevas. Esta vez el Comelanas de Sarah London. Aprendi a hacer ganchillo en España y me hago unos lios con las terminologias americana y britanica tremendos, por lo que prefiero las versiones en castellano. La traduccion de Hasta El Monyo de patrones en ingles me ayudo mucho.

Despues de muchos meses por fin pude asistir a la quedada de ganchillo. Con dolor de cuello pero asisti, no teji mucho pero al menos charle y conoci a algunas chicas mas. De camino hice una parada en una libreria, eche un vistazo a un libro de moda de los 1940s y encontre una foto con hilo de plastico, un bolso hecho con el, y un sombrero con agujas de punto.

After missing several of the latest meet-up today I was not going to let a pain in the neck stopping me from taking part. On the way there I pop into a bookshop and guess what I managed to find some needle based inspiration from a 1940s fashion book. Some plastic yarn by the name of Joseph, and a knitting inspired hat.

Descubrimientos ganchilleros - Crochet discoveries

Ojeando un libro de decoration encontre estos marcos de cortinas a ganchillo. Me encanta la forma tan delicada como enmarcan la cortina. La idea de una red con motivos encima inspira multitud de aplicaciones. Creo son victorianos a juzgar por estas revistas, y el nombre es portieres.

I found this crocheted curtains pelmets while leafing through a decoration book and I was attracted to them. I do not even know what they are called but they look old, I wonder if they are victorian. I did a quick search and found some curtain patterns called portieres which look similar. They idea of a net base with some applique motives is great and it can be applied to so many things.
