Primer intento - First go

Con la pulsera de nudo franciscano , tambien conocida como la pulsera de Sara Carbonero. Utilize un cordon mas grueso que el indicado y me quede corta por lo que no pude completar los nudos de cierre . Utilice estos videos como guia.

Trying my hand at making the franciscan knot brazelet, also known as Sara Carbonero's brazelet's. I used a thicker cord and was unable to do the closing knots. I used these videos as guidance.

Alegrando la vista - Improving the view

En la oficina estoy al lado de la ventana, pero con tan mala suerte que esta mira a un patio interior lleno de tuberias, motores de aire acondicionado, ruido y vapores. Vamos que la vista deja bastante que desear. Asi que decidi alegrarla un poco, con la ayuda de unos folletos viejos y este tutorial de Mary Janes and Galoshes, en un ratito nacieron estas mariposas tridimensionales .

I have got a bit of a sorry view from my desk. It overlooks an interior courtyard, full of pipes and noise. Some old leaflets, inspiration, a pair of scissors, the help of Mary Janes and Galoshes with her tutorial here, and this is the new view.

UK Semana de la Lana - National Wool Week

Tendra lugar durante la semana del 11 al 17 de Octubre . Una promocion de la lana organizada por los paises de la Commonwealth para promover esta fibra. Con actos, clases y demostraciones preparadas por los 80 comercios y compañias que participan en el acontecimiento en UK.

A celebration of all things woolly will take part from Oct 11-17th . To promote the use of the fibre worldwide, reminding us of properties : durability, fashion kudos, and eco-friendliness.

Wool is currently at its lowest price in New Zealand for 50 years, this also impacts in UK. A direct consecuence of today throwaway fashion which doesn't favour the fiber. Over 80 designers and retailers will be taking part on the event, organizing in-store promotions, demostrations and events such as Knit Graffiti.Some stores involved are Selfridges, Topshop, Jaeger, Harvey Nichols, etc, more details on Campaign for Wool.

At Tate Britain

Hace unos dias volvi a Tate Britain, uno de mis museos favoritos. La razon sus colecciones de pre-Raphaelitas, Victorianos y sobre todo Turner. Esta vez me concentre en los victorianos, Ophelia, The Lady of Shalott, Carnation, Rose and Lily.

A few days ago I went back to Tate Britain, to see some favorite victorian paintings, and painters like Sargent.

Mezclas raras - Strange foodstuff

Sigo preparando recetas de palomitas de este libro que encontre en la biblioteca. Llevo tres de un total de doce. Palomitas con miel y mostaza. No quedo mal, vamos que nos las comimos todas. Para mi gusto quedarian mejor con mas miel. Aunque mis preferidas siguen siendo las de caramelo salado.

Palomitas con miel y mostaza / Honey mustard popcorn


85 gr de maiz / popcorn
25 gr de mantequilla sin sal / unsaltted butter
2 cucharadas miel / 2 tbsp honey (2 x 15 ml)
1 cucharadita mostaza inglesa en polvo / 1 tsp English mustard powder (1 x 5 ml)
1 cucharadita mostaza de Dijon / 1 tsp wholegrain mustard (1 x 5 ml)
1/2 cucharadita sal de mesa / 1/2 tsp table salt
1/2 cucharadita pimienta negra recien molida / 1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper.
Hacer la palomitas en una cazuela. Las suelo hacer sin aceite, solo con calor y moviendo la cazuela para evitar que se peguen.
Poner la mantequilla y la miel en un cazo a fuego suave, batiendo hasta que se mezclen.
Añadir las mostazas, sal y pimienta, mezclar y vertir sobre las palomitas, removiendo hasta que queden cubiertas.


I am working my way through the popcorn recipes from this book from Marcus Wareing. So far I have prepared three out of 12 popcorn recipes. This time I prepared "Honey mustard popcorn". It was nice, we ate them all, mainly me, but next time I think will add more honey. My favorite is still salted caramel.

Method:
Cook popcorn according to instructions. I like to do it without fat, just heat,set appart. Put butter and honey in saucepan and heat gently, whisking to combine.
Add the rest of the ingredients mix well and pour over popcorn stirring to combine.

Personalizado - Customised

Paseando por South Molton St, al lado de Oxford St, encontre estos dos edificios personalizados. La melena de la peluqueria es genial, pero el ingenio de la manicura no se queda atras. La calle parece que tambien tiene otros usos.

On a stroll around South Molton St I came accross this two customised buildings. Funny that both house beauty businesses. Next time I will try to be around when they film dancing as they did a while ago with this swing video.

Calefaccion - Heating

El otoño ya esta a la vuelta de la esquina. Y con el la preguntita: Ponemos la calefaccion ? Yo personalmente soy mas de ponerme un jersey. Otros hacen ambas cosas a la vez, si no mirad este video, donde nos muestran como calienta el calor natural, pero lo hacen a base de punto y lana.

Temperatures are dropping and soon the central heating will start working full time. Personally I prefer wearing a extra sweater. Other people do both, put the heating on and the knits, like they do in this video.



Creo que me gusta mas ver como se hizo.
I enjoy even more seeing how they made it.
