Madre e hija - Mother and daughter

La aficion por las labores y artesania es algo que herede de mi madre, al igual que la gran mayoria de quienes leen este blog. Lo que no ocurre a menudo es el encontrar un negocio que las una en su aficion . Facets of Avalon, una galleria situada en Glastonbury, donde Jan Billings y Rachel Reilly muestran sus creaciones. Jan la madre sus sedas pintadas y Rachel su alambre tejido. Mi predileccion se decanta por las piezas que teje la hija, pulseras, gargantillas, diademas, etc. Coloridas, con lineas y texturas interesantes que van desde diseños casi teatrales como cuellos de plumas hasta piezas mas llevaderas y delicadas como las de su coleccion "Shells".

Like most crafters I inherited my hobby from my mother. What is not common is finding a crafts gallery run by a team of mother and daughter showing their pieces . This is the case of Facets of Avalon, where Jan Billings shows us her work on painted silks and Rachel Reilly her wire work. My favorite are the knitted wire jewelry pieces that Rachel designs, her feather necklaces are out of this world, theatrical with an interesting mixture of texture and movement. El corazon de una bordadora - An embroiderers heart

El que nos muestra Andrea Dezsö. Profesora del Parsons School of Design en Nueva York de origen rumano, con gran experiencia internacional a nivel educativo. Una artista muy prolifica a juzgar por su pagina web. Una artista visual en todo el sentido de la palabra, usando una gran variedad de medios , dibujo, escritura, video, papel cortado, escultura, murales, animacion , etc para trasmitir su mensaje. Ingeniosa y perspicaz su serie con los dichos de su madre.

The one done by Andrea Dezsö, a visual artist ,writer and academic, who uses a range of media to convey her message. She is a faculty member at Parsons School of Design. I enjoy her "Lessons from my mother" series, so full of insight.
