I like crochet, but my practical nature does insists on the easy to care nature of beach clothes. Personally I will do some alterations to them : lengthening the leg and adding contrasting lining will make some interesting evening palazzo troussers. I came accross them and their pattern on the Outstanding Crochet blog, less patient fans can buy them here.

Pantalones cortos a ganchillo - Crochet Shorts

Arte afieltrado - Felted Peacock Art
Another fan of peacock birds, felt artist Eve Marshall used them on some of her pieces for the exhibition at the Carre Gallery. See more details of her work and classes on her webpage / shop.

My crime novel reading with Nordic Noir by Barry Forshaw and my nail varnish with this cracked style. The latter with mixed views, mine is of a lacelike look, agapi thinks is gothic.

Punto de Ciencia Ficcion - Knitted Science Fiction
En casa viendo "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" mientras trato de recuperar la voz.
At home watching "The hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", while I try to recover my voice. I never saw the whole film, so I was surprised and amused when I saw the knitted scenes.

Pasarela bordada - Embroidered catwalk
Leafing through some magazines I came accross the S/S 2013 Prada collection, japanese inspired and embellished with ribbon embroidery, french knots and aplique flowers , a touch 1960s which reminded me of Marimeko Unikko print fabric. Later I went to Selfridges and checked the Prada concession, they look even better. Great inspiration for customising fans.

Fallas, art and Conway Hall
Went to Conway Hall to tango after missing three Fridays in a row while ill with flu. While walking in through their hall I encountered two cardboard scultures looking like XVIII gentlemen, First Philosopher were their names. Went to hang my coat and came face to face with a group of them seated on a sofa, The Holy Family. There were also painting and drawings on display all part of Stations of the Cross a show by the artist Lawrence Mathias, exploring the relationship between religious paith and sceptical thought. I found it witty and interesting. My first though on seen the scultures was remembering the Fallas in Valencia , were cardboard sculptures depicting the previous year events are set on fire on the eve of 19th March after two weeks of celebrations. Desperta, Mascleta, Ninots, Crema...memories of some Fallas long past came to my mind.

Lana Ondas - Ruffle yarn
A few weeks ago I came across some ruffle yarn in variegated blue. I had never seen this tape yarn and had no idea how to work with it. The last few weekends were spent at home with flu and I went searching for tecniques to work with it. I tried three, the knitting one took too much yarn and I didn't have enough for an scarf . Then I tried this video from Elaine Crochet with instructions in portuguese which was easy enough, but I must have mistaken something because the scarf resulted too short. Tried this video from Mikey from All Free Crochet.com and bingo, I even had some yarn left over which I added to the scarf. Something else I noticed, the yarn is very resilient, I unravelled it twice and it didn't show at al. If you are impatient like me, go for the crochet tutorials, you can do two scarfs in a day.

Tragalanas - Wool Eater
A few days in bed with the flu gave me the opportunity to have a go at some new tecniques. The Wool Eater, a stich I discovered a year ago but had not tried yet. You can find Sarah London great tutorial here, or if you prefer videos, here is one.
